Jean Pronovost

Jean Joseph Denis Pronovost ( born December 18, 1945 in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, who in his active years from 1964 to 1982 among others for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Atlanta Flames and Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League has played. His brothers Claude and Marcel were also professional hockey players.

Career

Jean Pronovost began his career as a hockey player with the Niagara Falls Flyers, for by 1966 he was active from 1964 in the Junior League of the Ontario Hockey Association. Then the winger spent two years playing for the first team of the Oklahoma City Blazers in the Central Professional Hockey League. From 1968 to 1978 he stood for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League on the ice, where he was among the players and management regularly to the mannschaftsinternten Topscorern. During his time in Pittsburgh, he took four times in a row at the NHL All-Star Game in part (1975, 1976, 1977 and 1978). On September 6, 1978, he was transferred in exchange for Gregg Sheppard to the Atlanta Flames, for whom he played for two years. When the franchise was subsequently resettled, the successor team Calgary Flames sold it to the Washington Capitals. For the Capitals, he also played for two years, where he was mainly for their farm team in Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League in the 1981/82 season on the ice. Then he ended his active career at the age of 36 years.

From 1994 to 1996 Pronovost was Cataractes de Shawinigan head coach of the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL. In the 1996/97 season he was in charge in the same function, the Rafales de Québec from the International Hockey League. Most recently, he worked for the QMJHL team Huskies de Rouyn -Noranda as head coach in the 2000 /01 season.
