Jean Richafort

Jean Richafort (* 1480, † 1547) was a Franco- Flemish composer of the Renaissance.

About life Richaforts there are few biographical sources. He was probably born in Hainaut and grew up there. He probably studied with Josquin Desprez, the evidence for this are unclear. Richafort worked from 1507 to 1509, as choirmaster at the Cathedral of Mechelen and 1542-1547 chapel of St. Gilles in Bruges.

He wrote the Requiem for six voices ( Requiem in memoriam Josquin Des Prez, 1532), masses, motets, a Magnificat, two secular motets and chansons.
