Jean Roba

Jean Roba ( born July 28, 1930 in Schaerbeek, near Brussels, † June 14, 2006 in Brussels) was a Belgian comic book artist.

Career

After school Roba began training as a commercial artist. The early 1950s, he was head of the graphic department of a Belgian advertising agency. After work, he attended drawing classes for 12 years at the Brussels University and received an academic training as a draftsman. He collaborated with André Franquin, Jidéhem, Yvan Delporte, Maurice Tillieux and Vicq.

His most famous characters are Boule & Bill ( in Germany known as " Schnieff and snarf " ), which are carried on by Laurent Verron since 2003. The Rascals ( fr. La Ribambelle, in Germany as " The Six " known) also comes from the pen of Roba.
