Jean-Yves Roy (ice hockey)

Jean -Yves Roy ( born February 17, 1969 in Rosemère, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his active period from 1989 to 2006 include for the New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League as well as the Kölner Haie in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga played.

Career

Jean -Yves Roy studied from 1989 to 1992 at the University of Maine, for their hockey team he was parallel in the Hockey East active. With the team he won in the 1991/92 season the championship of the Hockey East. On July 20, 1992, he signed a contract as a free agent with the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League. However, in the following three years, he played almost exclusively for their farm team in Binghamton Rangers of the American Hockey League. Only in the 1994/95 season he was in three games for the New York Rangers in the NHL on the ice. For the 1995/96 season the winger was transferred in exchange for Steve Larouche to the Ottawa Senators. Even there he was only four NHL inserts, while he spent the entire rest of the season with their AHL farm team Prince Edward Iceland senator. From 1996 to 1998 he played for the Boston Bruins, where he got a lot more ice age in the NHL. In parallel, he was, however, continued to meet regularly with their AHL farm team Providence Bruins on the ice.

For the 1998/99 season Roy was obliged by EC VSV in the Austrian Hockey League. In sener first station in Europe, he immediately became Austrian champion. At this success he had with 85 scorer points, including 38 goals, in 52 games relevant content. In the season 1999/2000 he stood for the Kölner Haie in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga on the ice. In the following three years he went to Fribourg - Gottéron from the Swiss National League A. Then the Olympians returned in 1994 to the Cologne Sharks in the DEL back, where he ended his career at the age of 37 years following the 2005/ 06 season.

Internationally

For Canada Roy participated in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer part where he won the silver medal with his team.
