Jeanne Arth

Jeanne Marie Arth ( born July 21, 1935 in Saint Paul, Minnesota) is a former American tennis player. In 1958 and 1959 she won three Grand Slam titles in women's doubles.

Arth 1952, the Central High School in St. Paul off and then attended the College of St. Catherine. After she had won earlier at the regional and national level, some titles and awards, Arth 1957 began playing tournaments internationally. In 1958 she won with her ​​partner Darlene Hard by a three-set victory in the final against Althea Gibson and Maria Bueno, the women's doubles of the U.S. Open. In individual competition, she reached the semi-finals of the tournament. A year later, both could defend their doubles title and also won the Wimbledon Championships.

In addition to her tennis career Arth worked as a teacher and tennis coach. In 1979, she was inducted into the Minnesota Tennis Hall of Fame, in 1986 the Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame.
