Jeanne Crain

Jeanne Crain ( born May 25, 1925 in Barstow, California, † December 14, 2003 in Santa Barbara, California ) was an American actress.

Life

Crain was the daughter of an English teacher and a housewife. The family moved shortly after her birth to Los Angeles, where her father was to teach at a new school. When she was elected Miss PanPacific, the 18 -year-old Jeanne was allowed to take test shots for a film with Orson Welles in Hollywood. Although they did not get the role, but decided to become an actress. Just one year later, in 1944, she played a major role under the director George Cukor. Her biggest success came in 1950 when she was nominated for an Oscar in the best leading role for the film Pinky by Elia Kazan. From the mid- 1950s she played mainly in television films and series. Your last role dates back to the year 1972.

Crain married in 1946 to actor Paul Brooks and was married to him until his death in October 2003. Crain was the mother of seven children who were born 1947-1965. Two of them died before their mother.
