Jeewan Jyoti is a Bollywood film in the early 50s. It is a family drama that is played by Shammi Kapoor, Chand Usmani and Leela Mishra.

Action

Shyam Sunder " Shammi " fell in love during his visit to the aunt in the neighbor's daughter Kishori. After the first overtures is it then also soon to the wedding, which ends in tragedy: Shammis widowed sister dies at the wedding reception in a fire.

From then on Shammis Mother Ganga treated her daughter like a slave. Also Leela who is in love with Shammi, Kishori makes life a living hell. Even as Kishori gives birth to a child, does not change the situation. Only Shammi tried to make her as comfortable as possible life.

After Kishori consulted by the serious illness of her father, she travels from secretly and leaves the baby at Shammi back. Arriving on the doorstep makes her father the last breath. His death drives Kishori into madness.

Even Shammi not bear Kishoris absence and is crazy. His mother served him on incidents that are only based on misunderstandings and Kishori back in a bad light. Finally, Shammi wants to rouse and bring his wife back home. When he locates Kishori dead in his bed, he knows that it is already too late.
