Jef Maes

Jef (Joseph ) Maes ( born April 5, 1905 in Antwerp, Belgium, † June 30, 1996 ) was a Belgian musician and composer.

Life

Influenced and encouraged by his friend André Cluytens, he completed his studies at the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Antwerp. He studied viola with Napoleon thistle Mans and chamber music with Albert van de Vijver. In harmony, counterpoint and fugue he was a private teacher in Karel Candael.
