Jeff Malone

Nigel Jeffrey " Jeff" Malone ( born June 28, 1961 in Mobile, Alabama ) is a former American professional basketball player who was active for the Washington Bullets, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat 1983-1996.

Career

Jeff Malone was selected after four years at Mississippi State University in the 1983 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets in tenth place. For his achievements in the first year as a pro Malone was appointed to the 1984 NBA All- Rookie Team. In the 1980s, Malone was one of the best shooting guards and points collectors the league and scored in five of his seven years for the Bullets over 20 points per game. 1986 and 1987, Malone was appointed to the NBA All- Star Game. He had his best season in 1989/90 when he scored 24.3 points per game. The playoffs, however, were missed.

After the season, Malone landed in the form of a three - team transfers at the Utah Jazz and played for almost four years at the side of John Stockton and Karl Malone. Behind his namesake Jeff Malone established as a second option attack and came in his time with the Jazz at about 18 points per game. In 1992 he reached the Western Conference finals, the Jazz, however, was eliminated by the Portland Trail Blazers.

1994 Malone was transferred for Jeff Hornacek to the Philadelphia 76ers. Because of injuries Malone seldom came for the Sixers used. 1996 he moved to the Miami Heat for the Malone graduated only seven games before he ended his NBA career. In his career, Malone scored 19.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

After his career Malone worked between 2000 and 2006 as a trainer for unterklassige basketball clubs in the IBL and in the NBA D- League.
