Jeff Odgers

Jeffrey Odgers ( born May 31, 1969 in Spy Hill, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche and Atlanta Thrashers in the National Hockey League.

Career

Jeff Odgers began his career in 1986 in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League Brandon Wheat Kings in the. There he fell to less by his skills as a point forming striker, but more by his tough game and brawling. He played four years for the team and scored 65 points in his last year in 64 games, but then had to leave the Wheat Kings, because he was too old for the league.

He then joined the Kansas City Blades of the IHL. There he continued his tough style. In the summer of 1991, he received a contract with the San Jose Sharks, who stood before her first season in the NHL. Odgers established himself in the team and in the league as a good enforcer. In the 1992/93 season he had his best year with 27 points, and he also received 253 penalty minutes. 1995/96 he wore the " C" as the team captain of the Sharks.

In the summer of 1996, he was transferred and a draft law for Al Iafrate to the Boston Bruins. In Boston, he played one year but his contract was not renewed thereafter. After he stood at the beginning of the season 1997/98 in any team under contract, he joined the AHL farm team of Boston, the Providence Bruins. But after four games in the AHL pledged him the Colorado Avalanche. For Colorado, he played three seasons and remained faithful to his style as an enforcer. In the NHL Expansion Draft 2000, he was selected by the Minnesota Wild, but was committed before the start of season 2000/ 01 of the Atlanta Thrashers in the NHL Waiver Draft. For the team is still very young, he played for three years and helped the team to slowly establish himself in the NHL.

On August 7, 2003 Jeff Odgers announced end of his career. He holds the franchise records of the San Jose Sharks and the Atlanta Thrashers with the most penalty minutes with 1,001 or 532 minutes on the penalty bench.

Since the season 2006/ 07 Odgers works as a radio commentator for the Thrashers.
