Jeff Scott Soto

Jeff Scott Soto (* November 4, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York City ) is an American rock singer. He is primarily a heavy metal singer of the 1980s, but is also influenced by singers of classic soul, such as Sam Cooke as well as of typical rock influences by renowned rock singer Steve Perry of Journey or Freddie Mercury of Queen. In the years 1984-1985 he was first known to a wider audience because of his vocal work on the first two albums of virtuoso guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen former miracles. In the period 2006 to 2007, he was lead singer of the renowned U.S. AOR band Journey.

Career

Soto moved at the age of eight with his family to California, where in 1983 he made the high- school diploma. Subsequently, he founded with his older brother Joey several bands, but had little success. In 1984 he competed first as a singer for a guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, who engaged him for a total of two albums. Later in his career, he played in several bands such as Axel Rudi Pell ( 1991-1997 ), Talisman or Soul Sirkus. In addition, he supported many additional bands and artists such as Fergie Frederiksen, Lita Ford, Steelheart, House of Lords, Human Clay or Khymera. Since 1994, he has also released six studio albums and own a live album.

On their tour in 2006, Soto replaced the short-term sick Journey singer Steve Augeri. Since December 2006, Soto was the official singer of the band, as the vocal cord disorder Augeris than first thought as a serious turned out. In the spring of 2007, he toured with the band through Europe again. On 12 June 2007, Jeff Scott Soto of Journey separated.
