Jeff Taffe

Jeffrey Taffe ( born February 19, 1981 in Hastings, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since July 2011 the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

The 1.91 m wide center first played from 1996 to 1999 Hockey in the Hastings Huskies, the high school team of Hastings High School, in the high school league system of the United States. After completing his high school career Taffe won the annual award as Minnesota Mr. Hockey, which honors the best high school player of the U.S. state of Minnesota in the 1999 calendar year. Subsequently, he was active during his college time for the team from the University of Minnesota in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, a league in the play mode of the National Collegiate Athletic Association before the striker NHL Entry Draft in 2000 as 30th in the first round by the St. Louis Blues was selected.

However, the links Sagittarius has never stood for the Blues in the NHL on the ice, but was transferred to the end of his studies in a barter transaction, together with Ladislav Nagy, Michal Handzuš and a first-round draft pick for Keith Tkachuk to the Phoenix Coyotes. In Arizona, however, he did not make it to permanently establish as a regular player. During the 2005/06 season Taffe joined in exchange for Jamie Lundmark to the New York Rangers, but even there he was, used to two inserts in the Hartford Wolf Pack, the farm team of the Rangers in the American Hockey League, so that it soon became the Phoenix Coyotes returned.

In summer 2007, the attacker has signed a two -year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the first sent him to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL, but then appealed in their NHL squad.

On July 5, 2011 Taffe received a Zweiwegvertrag for one year at the Minnesota Wild.

Internationally

With the U.S. junior national teams Jeff Taffe took part in the U18 World Cup 1999 and the U-20 World Championships in 2000 and 2001. In a total of 20 junior finals playing the center forward scored ten goals and eight assists.
