Jefferson County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Waurika.

Geography

The County is located in southern Oklahoma, bordering Texas and has an area of ​​2004 square kilometers, of which 39 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Stephens County, Carter County, Love County, Montague County ( Texas), Clay County ( Texas) and Cotton County.

History

Jefferson County was formed territory on July 16, 1907 from parts of Comanche County and Oklahoma. It was named after the third U.S. President Thomas Jefferson.
