Jefferson County (Tennessee)

Jefferson County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Dandridge.

Geography

The County is located in northeast Tennessee, is located in the southeast about 45 miles from North Carolina and has an area of 814 square kilometers, of which 105 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hamblen County, Cocke County, Sevier County, Knox County and Grainger County.

History

Jefferson County was formed on June 11, 1792 from parts of Greene County and Hawkins County. It was named after Thomas Jefferson, the third U.S. president.
