The Jefferson Parish (French: Paroisse de Jefferson ) is a parish located in the state of Louisiana in the United States. In 2010, the Parish had 432 552 inhabitants and a population density of 574 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( Parish Seat) is Gretna.

History

The Jefferson Parish was formed in 1825 from parts of Orleans Parish. It was named after Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States.
