Jeging

Jeging is a municipality in Innviertel in Upper Austria with 680 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). It covers an area of 6.55 km2. The competent court is the district court district Mattighofen.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Jeging.

History

For centuries belonged Jeging to Bavaria. Since 753, the Lords of Jeging are detectable. The last, Heinrich von Jeging, who remained without male issue, in 1392 retired to the Benedictine Michaelbeuern and gave his property as a benefice. The former seat of the Lords of Jeging went 1968 on by barter community property and is used as an office building in the community. The Peace of Teschen in 1779 Jeging came with the entire Innviertel (then Innbaiern ) to Austria.

Education

Jeging maintains a two-class primary school (led by Theresa Neumärker ) and a full-day kindergarten. The association Volksbildungswerk Jeging dedicated to adult education.
