Jelcz

The company Zakłady Samochodowe jelcz SA was a Polish bus and trolleybus manufacturer of Jelcz - Laskowice. Currently, the establishment is located in liquidation. End of October 2008, the last order for Krakow was settled. All operations were discontinued since then.

History

1952, the company was settled as Zakłady Budowy Nadwozi SAMOCHODOWYCH in the halls of a former German arms factory at Jelz. 1954 has started with the production of a Behelfsbusses named " Stonka " ( Colorado potato beetle ). This was built on the frame of a Star trucks. In 1960 at jelcz series production of the first heavy truck from Poland, the Żubr ( bison ). From 1968, the jelcz brand was also used for the trucks.

With the newer models, the first letter of the bus type is the intended use (for example, M for city buses ), the three -digit number gives information on the length of the car, the second group of letters indicates the manufacturer of the engines (for example, C for Cummins, I for Iveco, MAN and MB M for Mercedes -Benz).
