Jelko Kacin

Jelko Kacin (born 26 November 1955 Celje) is a Slovenian politician of the LDS.

After earning a diploma in Military Sciences in Kranj Kacin was initially as a trainee of the municipal administration, and later worked as a consultant for defense matters and military training. In 1988 he became chief of staff of the municipal civil defense, in 1993 he joined the Adriatic Karavan in Novo mesto in the marketing department of one.

Kacin was 2003 Chairman of the Regional Council of Upper Carniola ( Carniola ) and the local branch of Kranj in the LDS. Previously, he was a member of the party council. He was a member from 1998 to 2006 the municipal council of Kranj and from 1996 to 2004, the National Assembly to. He was also a member of the Slovenian Delegation to the Euro Europe and the Interparliamentary Union. In 1990 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Defence, Minister of Information, 1991. After last Ministry was eliminated in early 1993, he was appointed minister of defense. In 2003 he was an observer in the European Parliament, since 2004 he is a full member there. There he was a member of the board of the ALDE Group.

Kacin was awarded the Slovene freedom Order.

Kacin is Deputy Chairman of the Delegation for relations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo. He is a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Delegation for relations with the Korean Peninsula. Substitute in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, the Committee on Transport and Tourism in the delegation to the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee EU-Ukraine, the delegation for relations with Iraq and the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly EURO- NEST.
