Jelle Nijdam
Jelle Nijdam ( born August 16, 1963 in Zundert, Netherlands ) is a former Dutch cyclist.
Career
Nijdam was from 1984 to 1996 pro and is the son of the amateur world champion in the individual pursuit in 1961 and Tour de France stage winner from 1964, Henk Nijdam.
Jelle Nijdam took ten times participated in the Tour de France between 1987 and 1991 and could win a total of six stages. In 1987 and 1988 he was able to win the yellow jersey of the overall leader for a total of three days. In addition to the stage successes in the Tour de France, the Dutchman also won on a stage at the Vuelta a España, and at the Amstel Gold Race, Paris -Tours and Paris- Brussels. In his career, he was able to celebrate a total of 104 achievements.
His nickname was Snelle Jelle ( Jelle Fast dt ).
Nijdam was after the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles at the Dutch professional team Kwantum halls.
After winning the overall at the Tour de Luxembourg, the Dutchman won the 1987 Spring Classics T- half by Flanders, as well as the prologue of the Tour de France, which meant that he drove a day in the yellow jersey. Until 1991 Nijdam won five Tour de France stages. Further victories reach him, among other things Amstel Gold Race (1988 ), Paris -Tours (1989 ), Paris -Brussels (1989) and the Three Days of De Panne (1991). In 1992 he won the prologue of the Vuelta a España and drove two days in the leader's jersey. His last major success came in 1995 with his second victory at the cross through Flanders. Nijdam was also able to win three times the Holland Tour in his career.
