Jemo Island

Jemo is an uninhabited island in the west of Ratak Chain of the Marshall Islands.

The small, oval-shaped island with an area of 0.22 square kilometers between the atolls Ailuk (42 km north-east of Jemo ) and Likiep ( 35 km southwest of Jemo ). From the island is a narrow coral reef stretches for six kilometers to the northeast. The Rifffläche including the island occupies 3.78 km ².

The island was cleared in 1900 by residents of the atoll Liekiep and planted with coconut trees and then inhabited only seasonally to Kopraernte. Did previously, the island was visited about once a year, with a limited number of birds hunted and their eggs were collected.
