Jenatsch (film)

Jenatsch is the title of a film about the Grisons priest and politician Jörg Jenatsch based on the novel Jiirg sealed by Conrad Ferdinand Meyer. In the Franco-Swiss co-production from 1987 directed by Daniel Schmid.

Action

The protagonist is a journalist Christophe spokesman ( Michel Voïta ), who lives with his girlfriend Nina (Christine Boisson ). He steals in an interview with the old anthropologist Dr. Tobler (Jean Bouise ), the Jenatsch grave had investigated a brass clamp which should be the key to the mystery surrounding the killer Jenatsch.

Discovered spokesman that he can step back into the 17th Century thanks to the clamp, and his life is increasingly determined by Jenatsch. The relationship with Nina falls into a deep crisis. When trying to get everything back in order, he finds himself in a Mask Parade and slays the carousing Jenatsch ( Vittorio Mezzogiorno ).

Criticism

  • Filmdienst: An elegantly staged and photographed dream game that suggested melts despite the obvious talent of its director. Even the figure of the hero of freedom only serves as a hanger for a confusion in which the different levels interpenetrate sometimes accurate.
