Jennifer Ehle

Jennifer Ehle ( born December 29, 1969 in Winston- Salem, North Carolina ) is an American actress.

Life

Jennifer Ehle was born in December 1969 in Winston- Salem, North Carolina, the daughter of British actress Rosemary Harris and the U.S. author John Ehle ( Winter People). She was trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She was best known for her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in the BBC adaptation of Jane Austen's classic Pride and Prejudice in 1995. For this role she was awarded among others the British BAFTA Film Award. Then she turned increasingly in the cinema, including the films Paradise Road, Oscar Wilde, A touch of sunshine and Obsessed.

In addition to her work as an actress in film and television, she is also a renowned stage actress, who received a Tony Award for her role in Tom Stoppard's play The Real Thing 2001. In 2007, she received another Tony Award for the role of Malwida of Meysenbug in The Coast of Utopia. In the HBO series Game of Thrones it was initially considered for the role of Catelyn Stark alongside Sean Bean, but was replaced in early 2010 by Michelle Fairley.

Since 1 December 2001, she is married to the writer Michael Ryan, with whom she has two children.
