Jerchel is a district of the city of Tangier cottage in the south of the district of Stendal, in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography
The place on the southeastern edge of the Altmark is located on an old, cut Elbearm, the crescent, under conservation Schelldorfer lake. The towns of Stendal and Tangermünde lie north of Jerchel. The area west of Jerchel is mostly flat and densely wooded.
History
The town was first mentioned in a 1345 deed, but should already 350 years earlier as an outpost (castle ) have existed against the Wends. The Jercheler church dates from the 13th century and has a Baroque interior with a family coat of arms of Itzenplitz on the east wall of the choir, whose patronage of Jerchel is already attested in the 15th century.
On May 31, 2010, Jerchel joined with the other municipalities in the administrative community Tangerhütte - country together to the new city Tangerhütte.
As part of the renovation of villages the former manor house the fire station was renovated in recent years, where now the town office, hall and a youth club are extended and renewed roads and street lighting.
