Jeremiah Crabb

Jeremiah Crabb (* 1760 in Frederick County, Maryland, † February 19, 1800 in Derwood, Maryland ) was an American politician. In the years 1795 and 1796, he represented the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Jeremiah Crabb served during the Revolutionary War as a lieutenant and later as a lieutenant in the Continental Army. On April 1, 1778, he had to quit for health reasons, military service. He had to pay tribute to the privations at Valley Forge during the previous harsh winter. Later Crabb was a large landowner in Montgomery County. He was involved as a general of the militia at the suppression of the Whiskey Rebellion in Pennsylvania in 1794. Politically, he joined, founded by Alexander Hamilton Federalist Party.

In the congressional elections of 1794 Crabb was elected in the third electoral district of Maryland in the time which meets even in Philadelphia U.S. House of Representatives, where he became the successor of Benjamin Edwards on March 4, 1795. This mandate he was able to exercise until his resignation on June 1, 1796. He then returned to his estate near Rockville. He died on February 19, 1800 in Derwood, where he was also buried.
