Jeremy Wade

Jeremy Wade ( born May 5, 1956 in Suffolk, England ) is a British TV presenter and author of fishing books. He is known for his television series River Monsters and Jungle Hooks.

Life and work

Wade has a degree in zoology from Bristol University and studied biology as a teacher at the University of Kent. He worked occasionally as a biology teacher at secondary schools in Kent.

Wade became famous with the TV series River Monsters. He pursued myths and stories about deaths associated with attacks of fish, to check them scientifically. The aim is usually to catch the fish as evidence. In 1984, he was arrested during a fishing trip on the Mekong River in Thailand by the authorities under suspicion of espionage.
