Jeremy Wotherspoon

Jeremy Lee Wotherspoon ( born October 26, 1976 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian speed skater.

In his career, he was four times sprint world champion (1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003) and won 12 times the World Cup ( over 500 meters in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and about 1000 meters in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002).

At Olympic Games, however, he could win a silver medal in Nagano in 1998 only. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, he was considered a great gold favorite over the 500 meters. By fall, however, he deprived himself of all medal chances. In Turin in 2006, he took over 500 meters square 9 and over 1000 feet of space 11

At the beginning of the 2007/ 08 Canadian a new 500 -meter world record ran on the previous Olympic track of Salt Lake City. He improved the old personal best of Lee Kang- seok by 22 hundredths of a second in 34.03 seconds.

Jeremy Wotherspoon was 2008 in Berlin retract his 50th World Cup victory over the 500 meters. The dream ended up in hospital. In a curve of Canadians unhappy slid into the boards and broke his left upper arm.
