Jerez de la Frontera

Jerez de la Frontera [ xeɾeθ de la fɾonteɾa ] is a town in the Spanish region of Andalucia near the Costa de la Luz. It has 211 670 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013) and belongs to the province of Cádiz.

History

The name suffix de la Frontera ( " on the border " ) behind many places, the region around Jerez from as long contested area between Moors and Christians.
