Jericho is a town in Chittenden County in the U.S. state of Vermont in the United States with 5,009 inhabitants according to the census of 2010. It is located in the western foothills of the Green Mountains, about 18 kilometers east of the shore of Lake Champlain in the immediate vicinity of Greater Burlington. 15 km east of the main town of Jericho and 7 km south-east of the tourist center Underhill Center rises the Mount Mansfield, which serves both as a State Forrest, on the other hand, as cross-country skiing area.

Jericho was proclaimed on June 7, 1763 by Benning Wentworth as part of New Hampshire to colonize, but in 1791 struck at the foundation of Vermont this area. The area was sparsely populated and was used primarily for forest and forestry. The many rivers, which originate from the area around Mount Mansfield and open into the Winooski River, led to the construction of a large number of water mills, which were initially used mainly as sawmills, later also for small scale industries of all kinds. One of them, the " Red Mill " in 1848, has been preserved in the village of Jericho, and in 1972 declared a National Historic Site.

Since the 1930s there have been efforts to develop the site into a tourist center. At that time, combating the effects of the global economic crisis on Mount Mansfield, the highest mountain in Vermont, campsites and huts were built in the course. Together with nearby Burlington International Airport and the well-developed road network here Jericho has become a winter sports center, especially since the 1970s. The area was one of the venues for the Biathlon NorAm Cup twice: in the 2007/2008 season and in the 2008/2009 season.

The religious life of the village is dominated by two Methodist churches. A basic, one middle and one high school are established; a Historical Society is committed to preserving the Red Mill and maintains a permanent exhibition on a snowflakes photographed Farmer, " Snowflake" Bentley, who lived here.
