Jernej Damjan

Jernej Damjan ( born May 28, 1983 in Ljubljana) is a Slovenian ski jumper. He starts for the SSK Sam Ihan. His biggest single success is the victory of the large hill at the 2003 Winter Universiade in Tarvisio. He also won three bronze medals with the Slovenian team in ski jumping and ski flying world championships. In 2013 he was second in the FIS Ski Jumping Grand Prix.

Career

Jernej Damjan initially arose when the Continentalcupspringen in Bischofshofen on January 12 and 13, 2002 in the international spotlight. On 17 February 2008 he reached in the individual ranking of Willingen with the second place his best result. There were four fifth places in the 2007/ 08 season. This he finished second in the World Cup standings, as the best Slovene, Rank 15 In the Slovenian Championships 2009 in Kranj he won in single as well as in the team event bronze medal. In the 2009/2010 season he could prove an ascending shape after he had only number 37 is in the 2008/2009 season in the World Cup.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver Damjan difference in jumping on the normal hill as 38 points with Lukáš Hlava after 1 passage out.

The Slovenian Championships 2010 in Kranj Damjan won the silver medal in singles and team.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo, Norway, he won with the Slovenian team the bronze medal in the team competition. He repeated a year later at the Ski Flying World Championships 2012 in Vikersund this success. On August 24, 2013 Damjan succeeded in jumping in Japanese Hakuba points with Noriaki Kasai his first victory at a Grand Prix jumping. Having followed a second place in Nizhny Tagil and two in Almaty in the same summer, he finished second in the overall standings of the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2013 Andreas Wellinger behind in second place.

His first World Cup win was Damjan on January 18, 2014 in the team competition in Zakopane.

Just one week later, on 26 January 2014 in Sapporo, Japan him his first World Cup victory was achieved in a single competition. A day earlier, he had already jumped on the same jump, as well as second prize on the podium.
