Jeroen Brouwers

Jeroen ( Godfried Marie) Brouwers ( born April 30, 1940 in Batavia, now Jakarta ) is a Dutch journalist, writer and essayist. Brouwers lives in Zutendaal, Belgium.

Born in the Dutch colony of Indonesia, he was interned by the Japanese invasion in 1943 with his mother and his grandparents. 1947 returns his mother with him back to the Netherlands. From 1950 to Brouwers spent several years in Catholic boarding schools.
