Jérôme Napoléon Bonaparte

Jérôme Napoléon Bonaparte - Patterson (* July 7, 1805 in London, † June 17, 1870 in Baltimore ) was the son of Jérôme Bonaparte ( 1784-1860 ), Napoleon's youngest brother, and his first wife, the American Elizabeth Patterson (1785 - 1879).

Life

Napoleon had had the marriage annulled his brother Jérôme Bonaparte with the American Elizabeth Patterson and the pregnant woman refused entry to France. Elizabeth went to London and brought there in today's urban district Camberwell her son Jérôme Napoléon Bonaparte - Patterson to the world. Later, mother and son returned back to the U.S. and lived there together in Baltimore. As his parents' marriage had been annulled, Jérôme Napoléon was deprived of the right to bear the name of Bonaparte. This right he was of Napoleon III. again granted.

Jérôme Napoléon married in 1829 Susan May Williams, daughter of Benjamin Williams, co-founder of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, and his wife Sarah Copeland Williams. Jérôme Napoléon and Susan had two sons: Charles Joseph Bonaparte and Jerome Napoleon Bonaparte II.
