Jeronimo (band)

Jeronimo is a German hard rock band of the early 1970s.

Band History

The group was founded in 1969 by Rainer Marz, Gunnar Schäfer and Ringo Funk. With their first two singles Jeronimo achieved equal success across Europe: the cover versions Heya (1969, JJ Light) and Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye ( 1970 Steam). In 1970 he published the pressed in pink vinyl LP Spirit Orgaszmus of Jeronimo and Creedence Clearwater Revival, which contained a page of titles of Jeronimo and a page with Creedence Clearwater Revival. The album was due to the idiosyncratic cover design ( a penis ejaculates the musicians ) became the prototype of later publications in the progressive genre.

Jeronimo played in 1970 on the first Burg- Herzberg Festival on the legendary " Progressive Pop Festival Cologne ". An appearance in Lausanne as part of a UNICEF project was broadcast on television worldwide in 1971. The band, whose members now changed in 1972 broke up after the release of three albums yet.

After separation of the group joined drummer Ringo radio to Atlantis. Rainer Marz became a highly sought after studio musicians in the vicinity of Frankfurt successful producer Peter Hauke ​​( nectar, Peter Maffay, Supermax ). In addition, March was a permanent member of the live band Supermax.
