Jerry Bock

Jerry Bock ( born November 23, 1928 in New Haven, Connecticut; † November 2, 2010 in Mount Kisco, New York) was an American composer.

Life

Even in his time in high school, the young Jerry Bock devoted intensively composing, and made by the musical public for the first time attention. 1958 began a collaboration with lyricist and librettist Sheldon Harnick. The next seven years were the most successful for Jerry Bock. During this period he created his greatest musical achievements that earned him the Pulitzer Prize, a total of 10 Tony Awards and a number of critics and audience awards.

The most famous tune from the pen of Jerry Bock: If I Were a Rich Man ' ( If I Were A Rich Man ) from his successful musical Anatevka ( Fiddler On The Roof ). Jerry Bock was recorded together with his lyricist Joseph Stein in the "Theater Hall of Fame". He made his home in a name by the fact that he used in many foundations and funds intensively for the next generation.
