Jerry Flannery

Jerry Flannery ( born October 17, 1978 in Galway ) is a retired Irish rugby union player who played in the position of Haklers. He was active for the region Munster and the Irish national team.

Flannery began his professional career with the province of Connacht, where he remained for two seasons. He subsequently moved to Munster. His first national deployment followed in 2005 against Romania. He was also nominated for the Six Nations in 2006, where he contributed to winning the Triple Crown.

Flannery helped Munster in 2006 to win the Heineken Cup Final by the victory over Biarritz Olympique. He was subsequently nominated for the squad for Ireland's World Cup. He came here in all games used, but could not prevent the elimination in the first round.

At the Six Nations 2008 Flannery could not attend because he was disabled due to an unsportsmanlike offense in the Heineken Cup match against ASM Clermont Auvergne for the duration of the tournament. For the final of the European Cup against Stade Toulousain he was ready for use again and could end up celebrating their second win in this competition. With the Six Nations 2009 he succeeded with Ireland the Grand Slam, he came here in every game for use. On April 21 of that year he was nominated by Ian McGeechan for the tour of the British and Irish Lions to South Africa. Due to an elbow injury ahead of the tour he could not travel.

On March 21, 2012, he announced his retirement from rugby due to injury.
