Jerry Kleczka

Gerald Daniel " Jerry" Kleczka (* November 26, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin ) is a retired American politician. Between 1984 and 2005 he represented the state of Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Jerry Kleczka attended until 1961 the Don Bosco High School in Milwaukee and then studied intermittently until 1970 at the local University of Wisconsin. Between 1963 and 1969 he was a member of the Air Corps of the National Guard of his home state. At times, he also worked as an accountant.

Politically, Kleczka joined the Democratic Party. From 1969 to 1974 he sat as an MP in the Wisconsin State Assembly; 1975-1984 he was a member of the State Senate. He was also from 1966 to 1984 a delegate to all regional democratic party days in Wisconsin. 1980 and 1984 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Conventions relevant.

After the death of Clement J. Zablocki Congressman Kleczka was at the due election for the fourth seat of Wisconsin as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on April 3, 1984. After ten elections he could remain until January 3, 2005 in Congress. At first he was a member of the Committee on Ways and Means, and later in the budget committee. In 1995 he also made negative headlines when he was arrested for drunk driving for a week.

In 2004 Kleczka announced his retirement from politics. He renounced in the elections this year on a bid again.
