Jerry Scheff

Jerry Scheff is an American musician. He is known primarily as a bass guitarist.

Life

Scheff grew up in the San Francisco Bay. After his military service with the U.S. Navy, he went to San Diego State College, where he earned his living as a musician in hotel bands. As a tour in Palm Springs burned down the hotel and taken all instruments were destroyed, he decided to pull to Los Angeles. There he worked as a studio musician.

1966, Scheff on with the vocal group The Association whose debut album " And Then ... Along Comes the Association ". The title " Along Comes Mary " was the first big hit of the band and reached number seven on the U.S. charts. When recording to Scheff had indeed playful, but the following cover versions took over this error. In the following years, Scheff has established itself as one of the greatest studio bass guitarist in Los Angeles. He has played on albums by Neil Diamond, Sammy Davis Jr., Nancy Sinatra, The Everly Brothers, Pat Boone or Barbra Streisand.

1971 Scheff has been contracted by The Doors for their album LA Woman. Then there were considerations to include him as a member of the band. However, the death of Jim Morrison in Paris this idea nullified and Scheff accepted an offer of, a member of the backing band " TCB Band" for Elvis Presley to be, where he had already played in the late 1960s for a short time. With interruption Jerry was from 1969 to 1977 in the band of Presley. On DVD Jerry is among others in 1973 Aloha from Hawaii to see the first one in several countries broadcast live concert via satellite.

From 1978 he played on the European tour of Bob Dylan. In the 1980s, he again worked mainly as a studio musician. Above all, John Denver and Elvis Costello and Roy Orbison often attacked back on his services. Since 1997, Scheff is touring with "Elvis In Concert ", a show in which Presley's greatest hits are played with.
