Jerry Springer

Gerald Norman "Jerry" Springer ( born February 13, 1944 in Hampstead, London ) is an American politician and presenter.

Springer was democratic mayor of Cincinnati. He is mainly known for his talk show The Jerry Springer Show, which paired Boulevard subjects with frequent scuffles among guests.

Life

Before Springer TV presenter was, he worked as a professional politician. So he ran in 1970 for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives; when he failed there, he got himself elected in 1971 in the City Council of the city of Cincinnati. In 1974 he had to because of a prostitute scandal to resign as an independent candidate won his seat in the next year but back again. In 1977 he stood as a candidate - at the age of 33 - successfully for the post of mayor of the city, where he remained one year. In 1982, he competed unsuccessfully for the office of the Governor of Ohio. He worked then for over a decade been extremely successful as a political reporter and commentator for NBC Cincinnatier subsidiary WLWT - TV. On September 30, 1991 finally launched the talk show The Jerry Springer Show, which is taken up in Chicago and still successfully running on television.

In the British musical Jerry Springer - The Opera by Stewart Lee and Richard Thomas as the many absurd appearing Jerry Springer Show is further mixed with elements such as step dancing Ku Klux Klan members into the surreal. The musical was first performed in Edinburgh in 2002 and has since been shown at the Cambridge Theatre in London's West End and on British television.

Jerry Springer comes from a Jewish family in Germany, his parents were born in Landsberg on the Warta River in 1939 and fled from the Nazis to England.
