Jerzy Antczak

Jerzy Antczak ( born December 25, 1929 in Włodzimierz Volynsky ) is a Polish film director.

Jerzy Antczak was 1963-1975 executive director of the Polish Television Theatre ( Teatr Telewizji ). Here he staged for television the classics of dramatic literature. He had his biggest box office success in 1976 with nights and days based on the novel by Maria Dabrowska. The film was awarded at the Berlinale in 1976 and nominated for an Oscar in 1977. The main role was played by his wife Jadwiga Barańska, which received a Silver Bear for this film. Together with his wife left Antczak 1980, the socialist Poland and worked as a professor of film and television at UCLA. In the 1990s, the two returned to Poland. In Poland in 1995 he filmed The Lady of the Camellias. In 2002, he filmed in Chopin - longing for love, the love story between Frederic Chopin and George Sand with Piotr Adamczyk, Danuta Stenka and in the lead roles.
