Jerzy Einhorn

Jerzy Einhorn ( born July 26, 1925 in Częstochowa, Poland, † 28 April 2000 in Stockholm, Sweden ) was a professor of radiation oncology and politician ( Kristdemokraterna ).

He became MD in 1958, Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, 1959, senior physician at Radiumhemmet, the cancer clinic of the Karolinska Institute, and professor of radiation oncology since 1967. Chairman of the European Federation of Cancer Societies from 1975. From 1984 he was Chairman of the Nobel association of the Karolinska Institute. Member of the Swedish Parliament he served as representative of the Christian Democrats 1991 until 1994.

Einhorn has his childhood and youth in Poland, and how he has survived as one of the few Polish Jews the Holocaust described in his memoirs entitled Utvald att leva. He is the father of the author Lena Einhorn.
