Jerzy Matuszkiewicz

Jerzy " Duduś " Matuszkiewicz ( born April 10, 1928 in Jasło ) is a Polish jazz musician (clarinet, saxophone) and film composer. He is due to its significant influence on the Polish scene as " the godfather of Polish jazz. "

Life and work

Matuszkiewicz conducted from 1950 to 1958 the band Melomani with which he was involved in 1952-1957 of shots ( re-release 1999 JF Records). In 1957 he was one of the musicians who met with West German jazz musicians in Sopot; Melomani jammed there with the Spree City Stompers. 1964 invited him Joachim Ernst Berendt one, in the film Jazz from Poland Krzysztof Komeda addition, Andrzej Kurylewicz to occur Jerzy Milian and Roman Dylag. Since 1965, he focused on compositions for the film and advertising.
