Jerzy Wojnar

Jerzy Wojnar ( born October 7, 1937 in Lviv, now Ukraine, † February 2nd 2005 in Olsza Kraków) was a Polish athlete toboggan.

Jerzy Wojnar was active for Olsza Kraków. He started for the first time in 1958 at the home Krynica -Zdrój at a luge World Cup and won ahead of his compatriot Ryszard Pędrak and the Austrians Reinhold frog immediately the title of world champion. A year later the pole was eighth in Villard -de- Lans, 1960 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen sixth. He also started in Garmisch with the known mainly as bobsledder Włodzimierz Źróbik in sledge double and finished fifth. 1961 won Wojnar before Hans Plenk and Reinhold Senn the title. He was the first sledders, the world champion for the second time. In doubles, he came up with Źróbik to 19th place. Again he won a medal in 1962 in Krynica -Zdrój, when he won the silver medal behind Thomas Köhler and before Jochen ashes. Far worse was the FIL World Luge Championships 1963 in Imst, where Wojnar only 68 of 75 starters was evaluated and reported 83. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck, where the first luge was on the program, Wojnar came on the 28th place. In 1967 came the pole again usage at a major international event. In Hammarstrand he finished fifth and also was also at the European Championships in Koenigssee fifth. In Grenoble followed in 1968, the second participation in the Olympic Winter Games, where he finished eighth. In his last World Cup in 1969 in Koenigssee, he left as, inter alia, all other Polish starter.
