Jesper Mattsson (ice hockey)

Jesper Mattsson ( born May 13, 1975 in Malmö) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since May 2011 at the Malmö Redhawks in the HockeyAllsvenskan under contract.

Career

Jesper Mattsson began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at the Malmö Redhawks, for their first team he 1991/92 his debut in the Elitserien was in season and was in his rookie year immediately Swedish Champion. For winning the title was Mattsson, which can be used both as a winger and as a defender in a template in 24 games. In the 1993/94 season he was able to repeat this success with Malmö. The Swede, who had been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 in the first round than a total of 18 players from the Calgary Flames, ran from 1995 to 1998 a total of three years for the farm team of Canadians, the Saint John Flames of the American Hockey League on, before he returned to Malmö during the season 1997/98.

After the successful league in 2004 with the Redhawks Mattsson joined their league rivals Färjestad BK, with which he was first in the 2004/05 season runner-up, before each of his team won the national championship in 2006 and 2009. In February 2010, he signed a contract with the Malmö Redhawks, for whom he played until December 2010, before moving to Frölunda HC Mattsson. In May 2011, he again received a contract with the Malmö Redhawks.

Internationally

For Mattsson Sweden participated in the U20 Junior World Cup in 1995 and the World Championships in 1999 and 2006 in part.
