Jesper Samuelsson
Jesper Samuelsson ( born June 13, 1988 in Norrköping) is a Swedish professional ice hockey forward who has a contract with HC Vita Hästen in Division 1 since 2010.
Career
Jesper Samuelsson began his career in the juniors from HC Vita Hästen. During the season 2004/ 05 he first came as a 16- year-old in the seniors team from the third-tier Division 1 used and belonged from the following season to the root formation. He had a good first season with 19 points in 36 games and finished with the team to third place.
2006/ 07 he finally succeeded in the final breakthrough and he improved to 15 goals and 29 assists, which he was the second best scorer of his team and led all young professionals in the Division 1 D. A further increase he achieved the same in the following season when he was with 46 points from 26 games top scorer of the Division 1 D and led Vita Hästen thus to the first place of the division, then the team moved into the rise of intermediate round, but there fourth with the rank to qualify for the playoffs missed.
After Samuelsson was already available for two NHL Entry Drafts, he was finally selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2008 in the seventh round with the 211th and thus, in the voting rights of the Detroit Red Wings. But even in his home country one had noticed him and signed him as Timrå IK from the highest Swedish league, Elitserien, where he played until 2010. For the 2010/11 season he returned to the HC Vita Hästen from the Division 1 back.
Jesper Samuelsson has good instincts for the game and can put players through his sources in the scene, his ability is yet to prove in a first-class league. He also needs to work on his physique to compete against bigger players.
