Jesper Thilo

Jesper Thilo ( born November 28, 1941 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish jazz musician ( saxophonist, clarinetist and flutist ).

Thilo began at the age of eleven years with the saxophone; he studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music classical clarinet. He was 23 years as an alto saxophonist Danmarks Radio Big Band and worked since the 1960s in the context of the Danish mainstream jazz scene. As a sideman he worked, inter alia, when taking pictures of Edmond Hall, JC Higginbotham, Roy Eldridge, Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins, Benny Carter, Harry Sweets Edison, Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Vic Dickenson, Dizzy Gillespie and Clark Terry. Since the early 1970s, he published under his own name, a number of albums on the record label Storyville and Music Mecca.
