Jesse Burr Strode

Jesse Burr Strode ( born February 18, 1845 in Farmers Township, Fulton County, Illinois, † November 1, 1924 in Lincoln, Nebraska ) was an American politician.

During the American Civil War Strode served from 10 September 1861 in the Company G 15th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry in the. After the war he went to Abingdon. There he was headmaster from 1865 to 1873, was twice elected mayor and city council had six times. Strode studied law and moved to Nebraska, where he settled in Plattsmouth on May 1, 1879. In November of that year he was admitted to the legal profession and commenced practice in Plattsmouth.

From 1882 to 1888 he was district attorney ( district attorney ). During this time he moved to Lincoln in 1887 and started practicing again. 1892 Strode was the District Court judge. Two years later he was elected to Congress. There he took on 4 March 1895 to 3 March 1899 State of Nebraska as a Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives. After retiring from politics Strode returned to his former occupation. He died in 1924 in Lincoln, and was buried on the Wyuka Cemetery.
