Jesse F. Stallings

Jesse Francis Stallings (* April 4, 1856 near Manningham, Butler County, Alabama, † March 18, 1928 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama) was an American lawyer and politician (Democratic Party).

Career

Jesse Francis Stallings completed his preparatory studies and graduated in 1877 from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1880 and then started in Greenville (Alabama ) to practice. Then he was elected in November 1886 Solicitor for the 2nd Judicial District, a position which he held until his resignation in September 1892. During this time he took 1888 as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in part. Then he was elected to 53rd U.S. Congress and reelected to the three succeeding U.S. Congresses. Stallings decided against running for the 57th U.S. Congress. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives on 4 March 1893 to 3 March 1901. Then he went to Birmingham again his work as a lawyer after. He was also the 1912-1928 president of the Lincoln Reserve Life Insurance Co. He was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
