Jessica Hardy

Jessica Hardy ( born March 12, 1987 in Orange, California) is an American swimmer. Unusually, she was both the 50m freestyle track as well as on the chest short routes to the world's best swimmers; it is considered difficult to complete top performance on both of these swimming styles.

Life and career

Hardy lives in Long Beach, California. She is a member of the Trojan Swim Club, the swimming department of the University of Southern California, where her coach Dave Salo. After she had in 2005 as a student at Long Beach Wilson High School broke the world record in the 100 m breaststroke, she swam for the University of California, Berkeley, where she was able to prevail four times as NCAA champions. In the swimming world championships in 2007 in Melbourne she was able to convince a second time by winning the gold medal in the 50m breaststroke route. In the Short Course World Championships 2008 in Manchester, she sat down as three times world champion firmly on the world's best.

Hardy was originally part of the Olympic team of the United States at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, as they had qualified breast line at the Olympic trials in the USA in an outstanding way for the 50 m freestyle track, the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay and the 100 m. On 1 August 2008 announced the USADA that Hardy has been tested on 4 July 2008 at the Olympic Trials 2008 positive for the banned substance clenbuterol. As a consequence, it was excluded from the Olympic team of the United States for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing and initially banned for two years. This doping suspension was later reduced to one year; the World Swimming Federation, FINA and the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA have appealed against this shortening of the waiting period an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for international sports. The Court ruled in May 2010 in favor of Hardy, the lock was not extended to two years.

In the future she wants away from the swimming sport also design swimwear.
