Jessica Hausner

Jessica Hausner ( born October 6, 1972 in Vienna) is an Austrian film director and writer.

Life

Jessica Hausner is the daughter of the Viennese painter Rudolf Hausner and half-sister of the designer and artist Xenia Hausner. Hausner studied at the Vienna Film Academy. International attention she got 2000 Lovely Rita, the portrait of a young girl who feels hemmed in by family constraints. At Hotel 2004, she was referring to the genre of psychological thriller. In 2006, she created the trailer for the film festival in Graz diagonal.

Together with Barbara Albert, Antonin Svoboda and Martin Gschlacht she founded in 1999 the Vienna Film production company coop99.

In 2009 she received for her film Lourdes an invitation to the competition of the 66th Venice Film Festival and was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize. On the 47th Viennale she received for Lourdes the Vienna Film Prize for Best Feature Film.

Jessica Hausner has two children and lives in Vienna.
