Jessica Lurie

Jessica Lurie ( born October 3, 1967 in Cambridge ( Massachusetts)) is an American jazz musician ( alto, tenor saxophone, flute, accordion, vocals, composition).

Work

Lurie has been known since 1989 in the Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet, 1993 presented his first album, with their powerful and passionate, but always relevant group contributions; the Tipton belongs to this day. Since 1995, she also played with Arne Livingston and Dale Fanning in the band Living Daylights grunge jazz, where they partially doubled her saxophone electronically (500 Pound Cat ). In 2001 she moved from Seattle to New York City, where she was part of the downtown scene. She worked with Bill Frisell, Marc Ribot, Marty Ehrlich, Wayne Horvitz. With her Jessica Lurie Ensemble, it presented several albums. She also participated with Eyvind Kang, The Posies, on the Indigo Girls and I Metropoliziani (La luce Azzurra ). They also wrote film scores.
