Jessie Ralph

Jessie Ralph ( born November 5, 1864 in Gloucester, Massachusetts, † May 30, 1944 ibid ) was an American actress.

Life

The daughter of a sailor came at the age of 16 years to the stage to Providence. In the following years, she took a number of small roles in several stage plays. Especially between October 1922 and October 1932, she also appeared on Broadway, including Romeo and Juliet, but also in musical productions of George M. Cohan. In 1929, she led a guest to Paris. In 1916 she had completed her first film appearance, but it was only with the advent of the talkies Ralph was seen regularly from 1933 in movies. Especially often it was seen as servants, as nurse Peggotty in David Copperfield or as Greta Garbo maid in Lady of the Camellias. Overall, Ralph joined between 1933 and 1940 on in over 50 films. After a leg amputation in 1941 she had to retire from their profession.

Jessie Ralph died with 79 years in her native Gloucester and was buried at the local cemetery Mount Pleasent Cemetery. Her husband, William P. Patton (1894-1951) was a bit player, which was often used in Western.
